Englishman Falls in Central Vancouver Island. Man walking his dog at the top of the falls.
A lady stopped to tell us about this rock. 3 years ago the river flowed over the top of this 20 foot boulder. It actually dammed up the water and kayacers would go off over the falls. Something caused the river to push through underneath the boulder, so now it flows under the rock.
Chemainus, British Columbia on the East Coast of Vancouver Island. We took a horse-drawn carriage tour to see the famous murals all over this small town. They were very well done by local artists.
Above is the mural on the post office depicting letters written to service men during WWI.
The saw mills and pulp mills are a big part of the economy in this area. This mural is a picture of the saw mill in Chamainus.
We took a walking tour in Duncan just south of Chamainus. There were probably 50 totems around the historic downtown area, each with a description of the story they tell.
This is the largest totem in circumference on record.
