Langdale & Powell River

Gibson's Landing marina.  This floating house was impressive.
It took two of us to catch this salmon.
Waiting for the ferry to Powell River.  Our rig is the brown one in the center.  We had 10 rigs crossing with us in the caravan.  The other 7 rigs had to take the later ferry.  The lady on the right below is single and drove all the way (in the rig behind them) from Florida to join the caravan.

We were lucky enough to get on the front of the ferry.  We just stayed in our rig and had the best view for the crossing.

This couple are 89 and 86.   They're from Texas, have 5 children, 26 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren (the oldest started college a week ago).   They drive a small rig and keep up with the rest of us.  They have traveled all of their lives and have been on every continent in the world.  What role models for the rest of us!
We took a boat ride from Lund.  Beautiful scenery and purple star fish (never saw purple star fish before).

Sunset at our camp site in Powell River.

Pulp mill in Powell River.  Are we really going paperless?   This was a very busy plant.  They float the logs then shove them onto a conveyor belt into the plant.  Did not get to see this, but our friends saw the floating tractor that was shoving these huge logs over the spillway.
This is a spawning creek for salmon.  The Coho are running now.  The dark area in the river are hundreds of salmon.
